I am a Consultant Paediatrician at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead and an Honorary Paediatric Allergy Consultant at the Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Alongside my clinical roles, I co-chair the Northern Paediatric Allergy Group, I am a member of the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and sit on their national anaphylaxis steering committee.
In addition, I currently hold an associate clinical lecturer position at Newcastle University and I am clinical lead for the Beat Anaphylaxis Project.
I have a wealth of experience in managing infants, children and young people with a range of general paediatric and allergic problems, such as eczema, asthma, food allergies (including cow's milk, egg, fish, wheat, soya, peanut, tree nuts and sesame allergies), allergic rhino-conjunctivitis (seasonal and perennial hayfever) and urticarial disorders.
Private Health Insurance
I am recognised as a specialist provider with all the major Private Medical Insurance companies (BUPA, AXA Health, Aviva and Vitality Health).
Please obtain a referral letter from your GP as your insurance company will require this for your claim to be valid.
Please also bring your insurance details with you to the consultation and ensure you get authorisation for the consultation and any tests (e.g. skin prick testing and/or allergy blood tests) from your insurer in advance.
Some policies set limits for the total amount available for investigations and outpatient consultations. Please check carefully the terms of your cover with the insurer, in particular any excess that you will be required to pay.
If your private medical insurance policy reimbursement does not cover the fees in full, you must agree to pay any shortfall prior to the consultation.
